-Stu- That board was mounted on the front of our Veterans’ Memorial
Hall, where did it go?
Stu’s Notes:
Oroville’s American Legion still to this day is very active
in Oroville. I know many of them, but to keep up all the good they
do for our returning Veterans and the kids of Oroville, they need
more recruits. So if you are a Veteran and have time on your hands,
see Commander Ronnie Scharbor. I’ve read so much about that 1500
plus list of Oroville area men who served in their country’s time
of need, there must be a picture of it somewhere. Not only did the
above men receive an Honorable Discharge, a DD214, I think it is
called, but what they accomplished while they served was outstanding.
I have written about a few of them in the past. Howard Mooney served
on a bomber with Oroville’s, Hal Wyman, I was told this way back
in 2003 by his wife, Marilyn and daughter Candy Wriston. You can
find theses stories on our web site.
