Former Oroville Man To Wed In Auburn
Many Oroville friends have received invitations for the wedding of Everett Jacoway of
Auburn, formerly of Oroville, and Mrs. Ethel Lanstaff of Auburn. The Ceremony will be
performed August 31, in the Auburn Methodist Church. Jacoway, who was employed at the
Good Samaritan Hospital before entering the United States Army’s medical battalion ,
is now employed at the Highland General Hospital in Auburn.

Service Corner Ensign Winslow Released From Navy
San Francisco- (By Mail) Ens. Lawsen T. Winslow Jr., son of Lawson T. Winslow Sr., Route
2, Oroville, has been discharged from the navy at the Personnel Separation Center here.
Robert Colony Transferred to Florida Base Grand Island Army Air Base-
(By Mail) – Pfc. Robert Colony departed this station to report for duty with the McDill
Army Air Base, Tampa. Fla. Colony served 18 months in the European Theater of operations,
where he was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries received during enemy encounter.
He re-enlisted in the regular army on Jan. 2, 1 946, for 18 months. His parents, Mr.
and Mrs. J.C. Colony, live at Route 1, Oroville Grandview Station.

Mr. and Mrs. Hayes Honeymoon Following Wedding Here Sunday
Now honeymooning at a secret destination are Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hayes of Oroville,
whose vow exchange took place Sunday morning at the Congregational Church, with the
Rev. Mr. Maurice de Vries officiating. Mrs. Hayes is the former Miss Ruth Boyd. The
Bride is the daughter of E. P. Boyd of Biggs. She was graduated from Oroville High School
in 1943 and is employed at the State Theatre. She is a member of Job’s Daughters. Mr.
Hayes, son of Mr. and Mrs. Vic Hayes of Oroville, is a 1939 graduate of Oroville High
School. He served with the U.S. Army for three years in the European area, and is now
employed as a machinist at a local machine shop. For the occasion the bride chose a
navy blue afternoon dress with matching accessories. She wore a corsage of gardenias
and pink rosebuds. Her only attendant was Miss Mary Lou Hocking, attired in an aqua
dress, fuchsia hat, and black accessories. Her corsage was white gardenias. Best man
was Herman Rigmaiden Jr.. Members of the immediate family and close friends were present
at the wedding. The couple departed immediately after the ceremony, and is expected
to return the first of next week to their new home on Baldwin Avenue.

I went to the City Council meeting last week, I spoke, others spoke, the Council spoke,
Yeah a unanimous vote, The Shay will stay in Oroville. Lynn and I enjoyed the Fire Works
on the Dam on 4th of July thank you Rotary Club for all the work you do. Years ago our
Congress said “America should Celebrate the 4th with the rockets red glare.” It is 1946
young men are coming home from all over the world and soon the Baby Boomers will be
born, including Lynn and her sisters as her Father was coming home from Europe.
