A Soldier Comes Home
I recently attended the funeral of Private First Class Casey James
Holmes, United States Marine Corps, held at the St John the Baptist
Catholic Church in Chico. There were well over 500 people in attendance.
Many young high school aged kids. Casey was a grauduate of Chico
High Class of 2011 and joined the United States Marine Corps in
May of 2012. The service lasted almost 2 hours, I have not see so
many Marines in uniform for a long time. Bagpipes played the Marine
Hymn and at the end of the service Taps. There was a 7 gun Salute
with 3 volleys of fire. With the Families permission we will honor
young Marine Casey Holmes in Our Oroville Veterans Memorial Park
for all of Butte County. He didn’t die in a War, but he did die
serving his and our Country.

Tokyo (UP) – Joseph Stalin got one vote in Japan’s general election
yesterday, precinct workers reported today. Other votes went to

I don’t know how long the Arlin Rhine detachment lasted but I do
know the above mentioned Marine Ralph Brereton is the Father of

Brereton. Arlin was a Marine who was killed in Action on Iwo Jima,
WWII, March 2, 1945. His story is on our website www.orovilleveteransmemorialpark.org.
