Fred's father, Sam B. Lonidier, was a veteran of WWI and a resident of Oroville. Sam died in 1961.

Fred's words about his father:

"Dad never talked much about his service and, by the mid 40s to 50s, it had been a long time ago; long before he met and married my mom in Oregon.  One story was that he came down with appendicitis before the ship sailed for France, so he never served overseas."
