Five Killed in Plane Crash. Palataka, Fla.
(UPI) – An Air Force captain from Dayton, Ohio, and four member of his family died Friday when their light plan "started spinning like crazy" and crashed in a remote area near here.
Killed were the pilot, Capt. Gerald Lyvere, 48 of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton; his wife Joyce, 40, a daughter Dorothy, 5; a son Floyd, 6, and Mrs. Lyvere's Mother, Mrs. O.W. Anderson, Paradise, California.
The family was en route from Ohio to the Bahamas for a vacation when the craft apparently flew into some turbulence. Witnesses said the plane, a Stinson 108-3, "began spinning around and around like crazy and dropped straight down" about 15 miles southwest of St. Augustine.
